You need to be. Whether you\u2019re writing your own content or retaining the services of a professional copywriter \u2013 be it for a blog, web sales page, video sales letter, <a href=\"https:\/\/writedirection.com\/4-content-marketing-success-tips\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">direct mail piece or brochure<\/a> \u2013 these 5 quick copywriting tips will make it easier for you to create content that connects with the reader.<\/p>\n<h2>Quick Copywriting Tips\u00a0For Powerful\u00a0Content Marketing<\/h2>\n<p><span class=\"callout\">1. Talk to one person at a time.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>For years, in seminars I\u2019ve taught or articles I\u2019ve written, I\u2019ve always recommended that you write as if you\u2019re sitting across the table from your prospect or customer. Imagine that they are right there with you and speak to them one-on-one.<\/p>\n<div class=\"callout\">Use This Visualization Exercise to Help You Write Better Copy<\/div>\n<ul>\n<li>Visualize yourself in line at your favorite coffee establishment.<\/li>\n<li>In line, in front of you, you hear the customer sharing the challenges they have been facing that day.<\/li>\n<li>As you listen, you realize that you have a solution that will help that person.<\/li>\n<li>Now, imagine yourself sitting a table talking to them, listening to their issues and concerns.<\/li>\n<li>Then, it\u2019s your turn to talk. What would you say?<\/li>\n<li>After the visualization is done, sit down with a pen and paper and write down the conversation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span class=\"callout\">2. Use the word \u201cyou.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou\u201d is one of the strongest words in the marketing lexicon. While prospects want to know you\u2019re a viable, credible business, they also want to know what\u2019s in it for them. Can you reword your content so it focuses on \u201cyou\u201d instead of \u201cwe?\u201d<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"callout\">3. Make your content inviting to the reader\u2019s eyes.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Avoid those long run-on sentences and lengthy paragraphs. My rule of thumb is to keep paragraphs at 5 lines and use bullet points. When your prospects read your sales page or open up your direct mail letter, don\u2019t make them hunt for the information. Make it easy for them to find and read.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"callout\">4. Make emotion part of your promotion.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>What <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rocksdigital.com\/5-ways-to-create-brand-demand\/\">issues are your prospects facing<\/a>? Perhaps they\u2019re frustrated . . . stressed . . . overwhelmed. Touch on their needs and how you can help them with a solution. They care more about their hopes, dreams, and ambitions than your product. Let them know you can make those hopes, dreams and ambitions come true. Offer them value.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"callout\">5. Remember, benefits, not features.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Silk is just a feature of a dress. And, perhaps your prospect is shopping for just that. More likely, what she really wants is to know that the silk dress fits her like a glove, makes her look sensational so she feels like a million bucks, and is attractive to her partner or date.
