What is your favorite thing about your work?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Building communities, bringing people together, experimenting to see what works and what doesn\u2019t when moving content into search. It\u2019s very relational so it brings together my communications background and my post grad work in psychology. \u00a0Experimentation and some testing, yes, there is a bit of a challenge there because sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn\u2019t.<\/p>\n

What is your least favorite thing about your work?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Admin I would say. I have a wonderful assistant that handles a lot of it but I\u2019m still working on more automation. We use infusion software that seems to work well but I\u2019m still working on getting the admin down.<\/p>\n

What do you hope to learn \/ accomplish at Rocks Digital 2015? <\/strong><\/p>\n

With conferences it\u2019s about me slowing down and spending time in the real world, I spend so much time on the computer, and connecting with people and having conversations. I love that and allowing random things and serendipity to take place.<\/p>\n

When Google+ itself is promoting your Google+ user guide, I would say that speaks for itself!<\/p>\n

Are you an author? If so, what is the name of your book please?<\/strong><\/p>\n

I am an author but there are no books that I am promoting at the moment but there will be in the future. I\u2019ve written and published about 8 books in the past.<\/p>\n

What is your favorite book and why?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Douglas Adams and \u201cThe Hitchhiker\u2019s Guide to the Galaxy\u201d<\/em>, actually the trilogy in 4 parts is my favorite book. Why?<\/em> Because it is funny. I do stand-up comedy and that is something I always appreciate, but it is clever. It\u2019s very, very smart humor and it kind of explores almost the social condition we have.<\/p>\n

Who do you consider has influenced you in your industry and why? <\/strong><\/p>\n

Chris Brogan and Seth Godin are massive influences. I would also say David Amerland who is the world authority in semantics. He is a close friend, part of the team, but he has really changed my view on how \u201conline\u201d can be done and how people build trust, reputation and create authority thru their actions.<\/p>\n

Depends what day you get me, but let\u2019s say: \u201cA man who chases two rabbits catches neither.\u201d<\/em> (a zen saying)<\/p>\n

Get started on Google Plus. Build relationships, build the best content that you possibly can, create a community around that content and allow it to be naturally amplified into search.<\/p>\n
