It\u2019s all about engaging, <a title=\"Strategic Relationships: The Key to Future Prosperity\" href=\"https:\/\/www.rocksdigital.com\/strategic-relationships-for-future-prosperity\/\">building and being able to sustain relationships<\/a> you developed with a well planned networking strategy. Before you create the strategy, you need to understand the why.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Determine Why Networking Is Important to You<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>To build a support network &#8211; Do you need the services of other professionals in your field or other professionals in roles that support your work?<\/li>\n<li>Generate new\/more revenue &#8211; How many contacts will you need to make to generate an additional $1000.00 a month in revenue?<\/li>\n<li>Reach a specific audience (for example, finding venture capital) \u2013 Build a network of people who have and people who know people who have venture capital available.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Make sure you have a focused message to share with your network. (<a title=\"How to Effectively Share\u00a0Your Sales Message in 30 Seconds\" href=\"https:\/\/www.rocksdigital.com\/building-sales-message\/\">Start here<\/a>\u00a0to create one.)<\/p>\n<p>After you define the \u201cwhy\u201d of your networking planning, you\u2019ll be able to focus more on \u201cwhere\u201d you will find the people you need to be connecting with and the \u201chow\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>As you are planning, remember networking doesn\u2019t always mean pounding the pavement and attending events. You can start with with helping others. It is a great way to <a href=\"https:\/\/lissaduty.com\/support-others-help-your-brand-online-offline\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">grow your network and your brand<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Steps to Win at Your Networking Strategy<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Plan<\/strong> \u2013 Actually write out your networking plan and focus on what results you want to achieve.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Refine<\/strong> \u2013 What have you done that\u2019s worked? What hasn\u2019t worked? Is your current network really where you want and need to be?<\/li>\n<li><strong>Seek<\/strong> \u2013 Whom do you need to meet? Where are you going to meet them? A networking group? Online (somewhere like LinkedIn)? Perhaps your local Chamber of Commerce?<\/li>\n<li><strong>Develop<\/strong> \u2013 Once you\u2019ve made some connections, it\u2019s time to develop relationships. Create conversations, make a conscious effort to reach out and cultivate the relationship.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Sustain<\/strong> \u2013 Here\u2019s where you make a schedule to be sure you are continuing to engage the key players in your networking strategy.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Grow<\/strong> \u2013 Once you\u2019ve done all of the above you aren\u2019t finished. You have to keep repeating and refining the process.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Decide how many new contacts you want to make each month\/quarter and then think about how to best get those new contacts.<\/p>\n<p>Don\u2019t forget to look at the people you are already connected to and build from there. Start with conversations with your current connections, there is a good chance they\u2019ll know someone who will be a great addition to your network.<\/p>\n<p>And don\u2019t forget that your networking strategy is a \u201cliving\u201d document. You will discover, over time, what works and what doesn\u2019t work.
