But what about for a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rocksdigital.com\/5-email-marketing-trends\/\">marketing email<\/a>?<\/p>\n<p>Well, a marketing email is a totally different thing. Even if you\u2019re writing to a willing subscriber, you\u2019re invading their inbox with a message that is at the very least unwelcome and annoying.<\/p>\n<h2>Do Consumers Want to Read Your Marketing Emails?<\/h2>\n<p>To be compelling, make sure that every marketing email you send is short, to-the-point, and as relevant as possible. Here are the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rocksdigital.com\/aida-website-content\/\">three keys to writing<\/a> the perfect marketing email.<\/p>\n<h3>Take 3 Steps to Create a Great Marketing Email<\/h3>\n<p><span class=\"callout\">#1: Subject Line<\/span><\/p>\n<p>This is pretty much the most important part of your email, because if it doesn\u2019t get the recipient to open and read the main message, it\u2019s all over. You\u2019re then headed to the virtual trash can.<\/p>\n<p>To avoid being dumped, create a relevant, <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.hubspot.com\/marketing\/make-emails-more-clickable-list\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">attention-getting message<\/a>. Give your target audience a compelling reason to click it open and read the message.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Do you have a product that will save them time and money?<\/li>\n<li>A brand-new kind of service that nobody has ever offered?<\/li>\n<li>Are you giving them an exclusive offer?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Lead with the message that will get them curious enough to open the email!<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>PRO TIP #1:<\/strong> Try to abide by the \u201cbillboard\u201d rule here \u2013\u00a07 words or less. <\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>PRO TIP #2:<\/strong> There\u2019s a long list of words that you need to avoid to keep from being labeled as spam. Skip words and phrases like \u201cFree\u201d or \u201cNo Cost\u201d or \u201cSave $.\u201d (You can search and find long lists of these words.)<\/em><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"callout\">#2: Brief Body Copy<\/span><\/p>\n<p>I\u2019ve been lucky to work with several email experts over the past few years, and they taught me an extremely important lesson about a marketing email\u2019s body copy:<\/p>\n<p>Keep it short. Like <em>really<\/em> short.<\/p>\n<p>The point is to consider your email as one step on the journey you\u2019re trying to provide for your reader. And what is this step? Getting them to react to the Call-to-Action (see below).<\/p>\n<p>So, give your reader a healthy taste of what you promised in your subject line, then get them to click the CTA and go for more information.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>PRO TIP #3:<\/strong> Your email copy should be no more than 3 short paragraphs. And when I say \u201cparagraph,\u201d that\u2019s basically one or two short sentences.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"callout\">#3: Strong Call-to-Action (CTA)<\/span><\/p>\n<p>This is it. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rocksdigital.com\/website-ctas\/\">It\u2019s all about the CTA<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Maybe it\u2019s a big shiny red button that says \u201cLearn More\u201d or \u201cVisit Our Site\u201d or \u201cStart Saving Now,\u201d or whatever else you can fit inside.<\/p>\n<p>If they don\u2019t click your CTA button or link, you\u2019ve lost them. <em>But you had them!<\/em> They opened your email, they\u2019ve even read your copy.<\/p>\n<p>So bring it home. Convince them that the answer to whatever question they have is just one more click away. And once they give you that click, you\u2019re one step closer to success.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>PRO TIP #4:<\/strong> Don\u2019t provide more than one CTA, or multiple links. Keep consumers on the path to one single destination.<\/em><\/p>\n<h2>Commit to Marketing Email \u201cBest Practices\u201d for Success<\/h2>\n<p>So that\u2019s the 1-2-3 of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rocksdigital.com\/value-proposition-wifm\/\">crafting an appealing marketing email<\/a> that your audience will want to read.
