Yeah, yeah, content is king. We\u2019ve heard this about a billion times from every digital visionary and marketing guru and branding ninja.<\/p>\n<p>And your content could be the best, most interesting, most engaging stuff ever written.<\/p>\n<p>But if nobody reads it, does it make an impact? Was it even worth sitting down to type this masterpiece of marketing messaging?<\/p>\n<h2>Simple Tips to Successfully Cross-Promote Content<\/h2>\n<p>It\u2019s time to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rocksdigital.com\/wordpress-plugins-for-social-media\/\">share your content<\/a> with the world. It\u2019s like coming up with a beautiful new sign for your business \u2013 and putting it on the inside of your door! Sure, your regular visitors will see it. But this sign needs to be seen by the outside world.<\/p>\n<p>And this goes for any kind of content you have \u2013 a blog post, brochure, case study, press release, whitepaper, etc.<\/p>\n<p>Let\u2019s use a press release as an example. <em>(I have a soft spot for press releases; they\u2019re one of the first things I ever wrote and got paid for.)<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Suppose you wrote a news release about a new product you\u2019re offering. This is MAJOR NEWS that could <a href=\"https:\/\/www.advicelocal.com\/blog\/local-search-made-easy-part-5\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">give your company a giant boost<\/a> in revenue and profitability. It needs to be shared \u2013 and shared hugely! Keep reading for how to get started.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"callout\">Blog the News<\/span><\/p>\n<p>There are some folks who will literally just copy-and-paste their press release right onto their blog. I\u2019m here to tell you that\u2019s not a terrible thing.<\/p>\n<p>Yes, you could write a brief intro paragraph and then do the copy-paste. And maybe add a photo, since most studies show that a blog post with a photo (or several) gets more views.<\/p>\n<p><em>Pro Tip: Press releases and other already-written content pieces are great for filling up your blog, especially during \u201cslow\u201d times of the year.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"callout\">Facebook It<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The great thing about Facebook is that you can write a post about your press release and share it <em>twice<\/em> \u00ad\u2013 once on your business page, and once on your personal page. (Unless you have a strict \u201cno work stuff on my personal account\u201d policy.)<\/p>\n<p>Plus, a quick post with brief copy and a link to the press release (on your website\u2019s \u201cNews\u201d page or blog) is really easy and fast to complete. Something like: \u201cCheck out the news on our latest product \u00ad\u2013 it could change your life!\u201d along with a link, and you\u2019re done.<\/p>\n<p><em>Pro Tip: You could post the actual press release to your FB timeline, but that\u2019s probably a bit \u201ctoo long, didn\u2019t read\u201d for your Facebook page. Give them the option to go read it or not; it\u2019s also a way to generate more website hits!<\/em><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"callout\">Tweet Away<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Even with 280 characters, there\u2019s no way to post your whole press release on Twitter. So here\u2019s where you definitely stick to a quick Tweet and a link. Again, you can post it on your business and personal accounts (if you choose to do so).<\/p>\n<p><em>Pro Tip: Retweeting it a day or two later \u2013 with an \u201cICYMI\u201d (In Case You Missed It) at the beginning \u2013 is a great way to get more mileage out of the news. You could even share an ICYMI post a couple times a week for several weeks. (If you do this, make sure you post other things in between to avoid being boring and repetitious.) <\/em><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"callout\">Link with the Pros<\/span><\/p>\n<p>My thoughts on sharing your news release on LinkedIn are pretty much the same as my thoughts above on Facebook. But I would add one extra step; see immediately below.<\/p>\n<p><em>Pro Tip: Post your news a <u>third<\/u> time <\/em>\u2013<em> or maybe even a fourth and fifth time <\/em>\u2013<em> in relevant LinkedIn Groups. In these groups, you\u2019re talking to professionals in your specific industry who are probably right in your target audience.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"callout\">Email Your List<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Hopefully you have an up-to-date email list with customers, prospects and colleagues \u00ad\u2013 all of whom should be interested in your latest news. A brief subject line, maybe that intro paragraph from your blog post, a copy\/paste of the news release, and you\u2019re ready to hit <em>Send<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><em>Pro Tip: Make sure you have several links to the release in the news release itself <\/em><em>that are linked to your blog so you can get more readers clicking their way to your site.<\/em><\/p>\n<h3>To Successfully Cross-Promote Content You Must Track It, Too!<\/h3>\n<p>So, there it is:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>You had something to say.<\/li>\n<li>You wrote the content.<\/li>\n<li>You certainly want somebody to read it.<\/li>\n<li>Preferably hundreds or thousands of somebodies!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>You put it out there for the world to see, using a variety of online channels. And <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rocksdigital.com\/google-analytics-utm-tracking\/\">track ROI<\/a>, too. Count up the views, Likes, Shares and Retweets. You\u2019ll see what\u2019s working, what isn\u2019t, and have a better idea of how to go about it with your next piece of new content!<\/p>\n<h2>Cross-Promote Content and Convert<\/h2>\n<p>There are countless ways to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.entrepreneur.com\/article\/280211\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">cross-promote content<\/a>, once you master the tips above, I start thinking about converting into infographics, live video and downloads. The first goal is to get eye balls <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rocksdigital.com\/key-writing-online-content\/\">reading what you produce<\/a>.
