As funny as it might sound, even just logging onto your business social media accounts on a regular basis is an essential activity.<\/p>\n<p>While <a href=\"https:\/\/lissaduty.com\/social-media-crutch\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">social media is always in flux<\/a>, it\u2019s because it is (supposed to be) a dialogue, and not a consistent, unchanging channel.<\/p>\n<h2>Stay Social, but Work to Improve Your Website, Too!<\/h2>\n<p>And what about something more \u201cstatic\u201d than social media \u2013 like your business website?<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Are you reviewing it regularly?<\/li>\n<li>Updating it?<\/li>\n<li>Adding new content?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Since I\u2019m such a nice fella, I\u2019ll give you a head start. Here\u2019s my six fast and easy ways to make your website shine.<\/p>\n<h3>6 Simple Ways to Improve Your Website<\/h3>\n<p><span class=\"callout\">1. Make your site \u201cstickier.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Please don\u2019t put any adhesive materials on your computer screen. But DO put at least one link to another page within your site at the bottom of every page. Send your site visitor to your products\/services page, or maybe the <em>About Us<\/em> page, or simply to the <em>Contact Us<\/em> page. I previously wrote about <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rocksdigital.com\/website-ctas\/\">using a Call-to-Action (CTA)<\/a> in this blog.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"callout\">2. Check your spelling.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>This one is crazy simple. Do a spellcheck of every page on your site. If you\u2019re an \u201cextra mile\u201d kind of person, then follow that up by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rocksdigital.com\/grammar-mistakes-to-avoid-content\/\">proofreading every page<\/a> on your own.<\/p>\n<p><em>PRO TIP: Spellcheck doesn\u2019t catch everything. So whether you proofread it or have someone else with an eagle-eye do it \u2013 I promise, it\u2019s worth the effort.<br \/>\n<\/em><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"callout\">3. Get visual \u2013\u00a0use images.<em><br \/>\n<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p>As fellow Rocks Digital contributor John Nosal posted on Twitter the other day:<\/p>\n<div id=\"img_override\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-16102\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rocksdigital.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/website-tip-use-phtotos.png\" alt=\"Website tip from John Nosal\" width=\"100%\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.rocksdigital.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/website-tip-use-phtotos.png 1748w, https:\/\/www.rocksdigital.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/website-tip-use-phtotos-300x56.png 300w, https:\/\/www.rocksdigital.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/website-tip-use-phtotos-768x143.png 768w, https:\/\/www.rocksdigital.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/website-tip-use-phtotos-1024x191.png 1024w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1748px) 100vw, 1748px\" \/><\/div>\n<p>I think this is great advice. Remember that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rocksdigital.com\/content-strategy-visual-content\/\">people are visual<\/a> by nature, and it\u2019s always nice to break up a page of words-words-words-words-words with an image. Plus, it\u2019s an opportunity to showcase your products, employees, location, or even clients.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"callout\">4. Do some QA.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>QA, or \u201cQuality Assurance\u201d to most of us, means an overall review to see that everything on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.advicelocal.com\/blog\/local-search-made-easy-part-4\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">your website is working properly<\/a>. Basically, you should click on everything that\u2019s clickable to make sure it sends your site visitor to the right place. And test out any \u201csubscribe via email\u201d features, or any other forms or widgets you have on your site. \u201cBroken\u201d or incorrect links are no fun for visitors, and they make you look bad.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"callout\">5. Check your contact info.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Make sure that all of your phone numbers, emails, social links, and any other contact information is correct. To lose a prospective customer\u2019s business because you have a wrong phone number or email address on your site? Not good.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"callout\">6. Got a date?<\/span><\/p>\n<p>This one is a pet peeve of mine because it\u2019s something so simple, but so commonly forgotten. That copyright date at the bottom of every page of your site? Please don\u2019t let it be out of date. Heck, I think we\u2019re close enough to 2018 that you should update yours right now!<\/p>\n<h2>Small Tweaks to Improve Your Website Can Bring Big Results<\/h2>\n<p>For the most part, these are pretty easy things to do. But you might be surprised just how valuable these <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rocksdigital.com\/10-website-tips\/\">small improvements can be to your website<\/a> \u2013 and your business.
