This post is about another timeless classic \u2013 the AIDA model of sales and marketing \u2013 which includes Awareness (or Attention, for some), Interest, Desire (or Decision), and Action. That is the AIDA that can create great website content.<\/p>\n<h2>How the AIDA Model Helps Create Great Website Content<\/h2>\n<p>I\u2019m here to tell you how to take this model and apply it to one of your most important marketing tools \u2013 your website. Let\u2019s do this!<\/p>\n<h3>Your Website Content Should Get Awareness and Attention<\/h3>\n<p><em>Awareness\/Attention<strong>: <\/strong>Get seen by your target audience.<br \/>\n<\/em>Your website is hopefully awesome, chock-full of interesting content about your company, products\/services, and all the other stuff that makes you great. But you need to get people there so they can see all that.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Make sure your content is SEO-optimized.<\/strong> Use relevant keywords that your target audience will search for, so you\u2019ll appear in their search results and get them clicking.<br \/>\n<em>(PRO TIP: Put yourself in their searchin\u2019 shoes \u2013 what would YOU Google if you were them?)<\/em><\/li>\n<li><strong>Post content that\u2019s relevant to your target audience.<\/strong> In addition to your basic site pages, write blogs on a regular basis (and include those keywords). Interesting posts on industry trends and issues will keep them coming back.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span class=\"callout\">Your Website Content Needs to Achieve Interest<\/span><\/p>\n<p><em>Interest:<\/em> <em>Quoting Public Enemy and Li\u2019l Wayne (in different songs) here: \u201cshow \u2019em what you got.\u201d<br \/>\n<\/em>Make sure your website content is internet-ready by including 3 important parts.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Easy-to-read.<\/strong> While this piece is focused on the writing part of content, you need to be just as concerned with how your content is presented on the screen. Design and readability matter.<br \/>\n<em>(PRO TIP: Remember that more people view the internet on their smartphones now than on their computers, so make sure your site uses responsive design.)<\/em><\/li>\n<li><strong>Clear and simple.<\/strong> Cut everything you don\u2019t need. Edit, edit, edit. You\u2019ve got a few seconds to keep them reading. Make it count and get your point across.<\/li>\n<li>Even the most strait-laced B2B clients want their content to be \u201cprofessional but friendly.\u201d Your <a href=\"https:\/\/www.searchenginejournal.com\/many-writers-one-voice-brand\/112096\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">brand voice<\/a> needs to be clear and engaging.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span class=\"callout\">How to Achieve Desire and Decision<\/span><br \/>\n<em>Desire\/Decision<strong>: <\/strong>Persuade your site visitors that you\u2019re the best choice.<\/em><br \/>\nThis is where you really need to have hard-working content. It\u2019s got to be engaging and persuasive, giving them reasons to choose you as their new provider of [what you do]. A few acronyms to remember:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u201cWhat\u2019s In It For Me\u201d is the ultimate question you need to answer for these folks. Will your products\/services change the way they do business? Reduce their costs and grow their bottom line? Sell, sell, sell!<\/li>\n<li>Once you\u2019ve told them what\u2019s in it for them, they\u2019ll need \u201cReasons to Believe.\u201d Success stories, testimonials, proven results and data, all those kinds of things. That\u2019s the content you absolutely need on your site to turn visitors into customers.<\/li>\n<li>OK, I invented this one \u2013 it means \u201cHire A Professional.\u201d You don\u2019t <em>have<\/em> to do this, but it\u2019s so much easier to take your messaging bullet points and give them to a professional writer who can turn them into impactful copy.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span class=\"callout\">Write with Action as the Goal<\/span><br \/>\n<em>Action: Close the deal!<\/em><br \/>\nSimply, you need to make it super-easy for them to shop and buy. Provide clear ways to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rocksdigital.com\/website-ctas\/\">take action<\/a>.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Keep it simple<\/strong>. Give visitors obvious ways to act \u2013 \u201cClick here,\u201d \u201cAdd to Shopping Cart,\u201d \u201cGet More Info,\u201d etc. These buttons\/links can be posted on as many pages as you like. Make it as easy as possible \u2013 your user experience needs to be on-point.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Answer any questions<\/strong>. Write a comprehensive <a href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/gyro\/2013\/02\/04\/the-dos-and-donts-of-an-faq-page\/#12a657753513\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">FAQs page<\/a>. If you can, a \u201cLive Chat\u201d feature is always great \u2013 just make sure that the person answering on your behalf has well-written messaging for accuracy and consistency.<\/li>\n<li><strong>And say \u201cThank you!\u201d<\/strong> Whether it\u2019s a confirmation page or a pop-up message, one last \u201ccustomer touch\u201d on your website is always appreciated and shows you value their business. (Of course, follow-up emails are another way to do this \u2013 but that\u2019s a subject for another blog post.)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span class=\"callout\">Make Your Website Content Sing<\/span><\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s pretty simple. Your website is the online \u201cface\u201d of your business \u2013 and more often than not, it\u2019s the first place people find you.
