However, understanding your ideal client involves more than knowing their demographics or even their lifestyle information. You must know how aware they are of your products and services.<\/p>\n<p>What does your prospect know about what you offer and the satisfaction that it delivers to them?<\/p>\n<p>Just like a promotion that speaks to single women 45-55 years of age most likely won\u2019t catch the attention of teenage girls, a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rocksdigital.com\/how-to-write-headlines\/\">headline that works<\/a> to a market in one stage of awareness will not work to a market in another stage of awareness.<\/p>\n<h2>Identifying Prospect Awareness<\/h2>\n<p>With the help of my mentor, the late Eugene Schwartz \u2013 a veteran direct response copywriter &#8211; here are four awareness levels from his book <a href=\"https:\/\/www.keywordsblogger.com\/books\/breakthrough-advertising-a-summary-of-eugene-schwartzs-classic-marketing-text\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>Breakthrough Advertising<\/em>:<\/a><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"callout\"> 1. Fully Aware<\/span><\/p>\n<p>This is the easiest market to address. Your prospects know about your product \u2013 what it does \u2013 and know that they want it. They just haven\u2019t gotten around to buying it yet.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"callout\"> 2. Not Completely Aware<\/span><\/p>\n<p>They know about your product, but aren\u2019t completely aware of everything it does, or not convinced of how well it does it, or haven\u2019t yet been told how much better it does it now. This, according to Mr. Schwartz, is \u201cthe great bulk of all advertising.\u201d Some examples of headlines written to this state of awareness include: \u201cJoy \u2013 the costliest perfume in the world\u201d or \u201cAt 60 miles an hour, the loudest noise in a Rolls Royce is the electric clock.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"callout\"> 3. Less aware<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Your audience either knows or recognizes immediately that they want what the product does; but don\u2019t yet know that there is a product \u2013 <em><span style=\"font-family: Georgia;\">your product<\/span><\/em> \u2013 that does it for them.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"callout\">4. Completely unaware<\/span><\/p>\n<p>This is the most difficult market to address. These folks are either not aware of their desire or need \u2013 or they won\u2019t honestly admit it to themselves without being lead into it by your message \u2013 or the need is their own secret that just can\u2019t be verbalized yet.<\/p>\n<p>How aware are you when it comes to understanding how aware your prospects are of the product\/service you have to offer?<\/p>\n<p>Give this some thought as you\u2019re putting together your marketing plan.
