(After all, your website is basically the online face of your company.) <\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Person B is impressed! She likes the design of your site, the way your site content \u201cspeaks\u201d to her, and best of all, your pricing structure. So she makes an online purchase, or plans to visit your physical location, or does whatever it is she needs to do in order to get what you\u2019re selling. <\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>She becomes a regular customer and follows you on all your social media channels. Yay!<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cThen why do I need social media branding?\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Realistically, the best case scenario isn\u2019t that common. It takes repeat impressions for people to make a purchase. Those repeat impressions build a brand in the potential buyer\u2019s mind.<\/p>\n<p>Your company\u2019s brand is basically how people \u2014 whether they be customers, prospects, family members, or people who have barely heard of you \u2014 perceive your business.<\/p>\n<p>And they can experience your brand in many different ways: your website, your physical location, your products\/services, your employees, your marketing efforts, etc.<\/p>\n<p>Any or all of these can contribute to their perception of your business.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cBut why should I focus on social media branding?\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Because:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>It\u2019s free. (Other than the time you spend putting together your posts and posting them.)<\/li>\n<li>It\u2019s instant.<\/li>\n<li>It\u2019s a great way to engage with your customers and prospects.<\/li>\n<li>It\u2019s easy.<\/li>\n<li>It\u2019s where your customers and prospects are. (How many people do you know that <strong>don\u2019t<\/strong> have a Facebook account?)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>\u201cOK, so how do I actually do this?\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>You ask a lot of great questions! Of course, it\u2019s universally recommended that you go into this with a plan.<\/p>\n<h2>Content Goals for Social Media Branding<\/h2>\n<p>Think about how you want your business to be perceived, and what the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rocksdigital.com\/tips-content-marketing-plan\/\">content goals<\/a> are for your social media branding:<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"callout\">1. You want to be seen as an expert in your industry.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>So you post relevant, current news and information. Sharing \u201cwhat\u2019s new\u201d makes you look like a company that pays attention and knows what\u2019s happening. To really boost the \u201cexpert\u201d factor, put together an article or blog post or whitepaper about a trend in the industry and share it via social. (A <strong>series <\/strong>of these would kick it into even higher gear.)<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"callout\">2. You want to be seen as a smart choice to purchase from\/do business with.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>So you post (with permission) customer testimonials and success stories \u2014 as well as exclusive offers for social friends\/followers, seasonal\/holiday discounts, and other promotions that demonstrate the value of being connected to you. If you\u2019re in a highly competitive industry, social media is a great place to talk about why prospects should choose you over your competitors.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"callout\">3. You want to be seen as responsive.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>So you post quick, well-thought-out responses to anyone kind enough to contact you via social media \u2014 complaints, compliments, whatever. \u201cEngagement\u201d (just a fancy term for \u201ctalking with people online\u201d) is the ultimate goal of social media, because it\u2019s the first big step toward a sale. Be friendly, be courteous, be informative. And get back to them as soon as possible!<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"callout\">4. You want to be seen as a fun (but dependable) friend.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>So you post the occasional photo of your staff celebrating Halloween, informal Employee Profiles, fun videos from \u201cbehind the scenes\u201d at your company, maybe even the occasional meme.<\/p>\n<p><em>Pro Tip: Make it a meme that\u2019s somehow relevant to your industry \u2014 not just Kermit the Frog sipping tea and saying something snarky. (Unless you manufacture tea for frogs.)<\/em><\/p>\n<p>So there are some ideas for your social media planning. Take \u2019em, make \u2019em better, do your thing.
