It makes it easy to buy movie tickets on the go, to find that perfect restaurant for your family to grab a quick bite before the movie starts, and then help you navigate to the theater. It&#8217;s a Google for you, by you.<\/em>&#8221; &#8211; Google, May 2016<\/p>\n<p><strong>Marketer Challenges<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Buyers are harder to reach, and\u00a0figuring out how to\u00a0bridge\u00a0the gap between so many tools and dashboards. The top 5\u00a0challenges for large businesses today are the following.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>52% &#8211;<\/strong> Identifying and engaging our most valuable customers<\/li>\n<li><strong>51% &#8211;<\/strong> Differentiating brand and experiences against competitors<\/li>\n<li><strong>39% &#8211;<\/strong> Implementing strategies that help drive traffic to stores<\/li>\n<li><strong>37% &#8211;<\/strong> Exceeding direct competitors and online pure-plays from a sales perspective<\/li>\n<li><strong>36% &#8211;<\/strong> Keeping up with customer demands for more seamless brand experiences<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>People want more functionality, so they don&#8217;t need to use so many apps.\u00a0Mobile consumers want to complete tasks.\u00a0Users want personalization and relevance. Location is very forward but beware of being too personal.<\/p>\n<p>84% of consumers think advertising interruptions while watching digital content are too frequent.<br \/>\n92% of consumers get frustrated with interruptions in videos because of poor internet connection.<br \/>\n63.2% never want to get notifications from brands.<\/p>\n<p>Millennials are blocking ads!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Small Business Issues<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Average number of media types\/channels used by SMBs to market: 7.8 in 2016.<\/li>\n<li>It&#8217;s strategic, competitors are doing it.<\/li>\n<li>Most small businesses do it themselves.<\/li>\n<li>Measure ROI &#8211; 74% not using tools to measure ROI.<\/li>\n<li>Trust issues &#8211; only 1 in 5 of small businesses (18%) trust their employees.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>New Kinds of SEO<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>LBO &#8211; location base optimization<\/li>\n<li>Audience targeting and validation<\/li>\n<li>Offline to online retargeting &#8211; figure out your marketing opportunities<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Challenges\/Opportunities<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Meeting consumer expectations (existential issue)<\/li>\n<li>Embracing predictive and conversational search<\/li>\n<li>Making search more &#8220;transactional&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>Optimizing and distributing content across the ecosystem to multiple consumer touchpoints<\/li>\n<li>Not alienating customers with bad ads\/marketing<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The most important thing to remember, though, is to put the customer at the center of the whole process. Most organizations don&#8217;t really care about their customers, and it&#8217;s all about being customer-centered.
